Ruger AR Safety?

I find the position of the safety in the fire location to be somewhat uncomfortable. My natural grip puts my thumb right over the lever/switch. Not that big of an issue but I'd rather change that.
Is there a way to change this or is there an after market part available to move it out of the way. Thanks in advance...

I have never heard of this being a problem with a proper grip...

That being said, you can get safteys that only move 45 or 60 degrees rather than 90 degrees like the stock lever.

Midway, Brownells, primary arms... All should have options listed on their site. Prices hover around $50 give or take for many of the options.

Your thumb should be on the safety. It's how you manipulate it properly.

Numerous different shapes and sizes available. Put your Go(o)gles on and check the net.

Hey, what about a different grip? I remember trying a Ruger AR a couple years ago and didn't like the grip, felt like it was higher than usual, didn't feel right in my hand, Magpul MOE is much more comfortable for me. Is it possible a different grip might change where your thumb rests?

I've seen a push button safety like the 870 has. Looks like it works pretty slick.

I use the Bad-Ass Ambi Safety from Battle Arms Development. They are available with multiple lever types, including a thin, low-profile one.

This makes complete sense as when I took off the stock grip on my Ruger and replaced it with an MOE, the MOE beavertail was not touching the lower as opposed to the Ruger which was touching the lower.

OP I would start with the grip.
