Ithica Model 37?
Can anyone tell me if the Shotgun is a Ithica Model 37 that LAPD and NYPD still use or did have in inventory? How hard is it to locate the 5 shot models? Sure would like to have one.
Thanks |

The LAPD long used the Ithaca Model 37 pump gun, in a 5 shot, with Ithaca rifle sights.
Ithaca is out of business AGAIN, but there are plenty of like new to used Model 37's available. Check the online sales sources, or haunt the local pawn shops, gun shops, and gun stores. http://www.auctionarms.com/search/search.aspx http://www.gunbroker.com/ http://www.gunsamerica.com/ |

The 5 shot models are easy to come by, it's the 8 shot ones that are hard to find. The Ithaca 37 is my new favorite shotgun and I intend to get an 8 shooter to replace my 870 as my primary HD shotgun.

Earlier this year SOG (Southern Ohio Guns) was selling Ithica 37's for $199. They were listed as police trade in's in "good" to "very good" condition. From the photo it looked like a five shot with a bead sight. Didn't say which PD it came from. Or try Gun Broker

The LA Sherriffs Department also used Ithaca's. The LAPD ones are out there. The ones I have seen have fixed rifle sights as opposed to the adjustable ones found on most DS and DSPS and the ones made after the mid-1970's have a trigger disconnect.
Here's one from the LAPD

Last time I asked the NYPD still had Stevens 311 SXS in their inventory.
Entry teams love them.
