M14/M1A picture thread. Lets see 'em!!!
I'd like to see your M14/M1As and a short description of what you've done to it and the optic you're using. Just curious as to how people set their rifles up.

I bought this guy new in 1977 for $295. Four digit serial number 0068XX.
I started shooting it for the Guard. I met Jean Barnett (Barnett Barrels) at the Wilson Matches, (National Guard Championships). At the time he was working as an armor for the NGB MTU. I gave him some BAR parts he was looking for. He took my rifle after the match, and converted it to a Super Match. I got my distinguished rifle badge shooting this gun, and it still shoots today, although I've had to replace a few shot out barrels and stretched out slings. Other then that its never failed me. I only use irons on this rifle. The only glass I used on an M1A/M14 was when I went to Sniper School using the M21 w/its ART Leatherwood Scope. For 1000 yard matches I used a Model 70 in 300 WM for the Any-Rifle-Any Sight and Any-Rifle-Iron-Sights. How ever my best 1000 yard scores were fired using my M1A.

Ordered mine back when they still had a few USGI parts in them. When it came in the shop owner asked if I'd be interested in a few extras he had laying around. Ended up getting several GI magazines and a minty HRA GI stock for a really great price. It's a Standard Loaded model and shoots like a dream. It won't be going anywhere as long as I'm still kickin'.

It's sharing billing with my AR10(T).
The rifle was a gift from my wife Circa 1990 and a Springfield Armory Match with pretty much all GI parts. The rifle has always shot well for me and is one of my pet rifles. Ron |

I have a few M1A's:
This one I've had over 20 years. Bought it in '95 or '96 as a "loaded" model. It came in a black fiberglass stock and I stuck it in the wood USGI stock several years ago. It's a fine shooter. This one is my SOCOM 16 version. It too came in a black fiberglass stock and swapped it out for the wood stock last year. It too is a fine shooter. It's wearing a Burris 2-7'power scout scope. This is my Scout Squad rifle. I had it tricked out with an AAC 762 SDN6 suppressor. I alternate back and forth between fixed sights, a leatherwood 2-8 power Scout Scope And a Bushnell holosight. |
