The ones going for big dollars are closer to 98/99% and have the original box/paperwork. A 4” dash 4 in 90% would be about $600 tops. But, what you consider 90% might be a lot different then me. Jim Edit: after seeing the picture you posted on the other thread it’s a lot better than 90%. That said, 899 is still about 200 too much. Last edited by laytonj1; April 23, 2019 at 09:32 PM. |

Gun appears to be a Pre Mod 27. No model number inside crane, just 61826 with possibly a B underneath that. Number on bottom of grip frame and on cylinder is 150XXX. Can you tell me what the correct model is as well as date? Thanks for your help.

Yes, full number is S 150XXX and it is a 357 magnum. Appears to be a pre 27 with 3 inch barrel. Has the checkering on top. Trigger, hammer and sights are nickel along with the gun. Does that mean it has been replated?

Thanks Jim for the info. Really appreciated. Are the color heat treated replacement hammers or triggers available? I don't recall ever seeing any listed on GB or elsewhere.

A friend who knows nothing about guns gave me a S&W K-Frame .38 Spl to check out for him. When I got it home, I saw that it was a pre-M-10 with a 4 inch barrel and retaining 90%+ bluing. The s/n is 924935.
Can you tell me when this revolver was made? Thanks. Last edited by Japle; May 22, 2019 at 03:04 PM. |

S&W switched to numbered models in 1957, so that gun is older than that.

I'm assisting a friend who's father passed and left his collection. In the collection are 4 Smith & Wessons that don't have a model number stamped on the frame inside the cylinder crane. Hopefully someone here can help us identify. Serials are
171195 K170030 S180658 K250536 Thank you very much! |

S180658 would be an N frame revolver made in 1958. It was offered in several calibers. I would need to know the caliber to give you a model name. What is the chambering stamped on the side of the barrel? 171195 was used on numerous models over as many years. I would need more info on the gun. Is it a modern swing out cylinder like the others? 5 or 6 shot? What is the chambering stamped on the side of the barrel and about how long is the barrel? Jim |

The other two are model K-22’s which became model 17’s (6” barrel) and model 18 (4”barrel) when model number stamping began. Depending on condition, those NT-430 44’s are worth some good money. Jim |
