I've heard 1400 is the upper limit for copper plated. That was from the Ranier Plated Bullet website (when you could get the data for free). Apparantly the plating just isn't think enough to handle velocities over 1400.

But if you are going to push a bullet that hard you may as well use a factory jacketed bullet. No sense going cheap if you are going to push hard.

How fast to push plated bullets?

BERRY says 1,300 feet per second.
RAINARE says 1,200 feet per second.

Also be carefull how much crimp you put on a plated bullet. To much crimp can tear the plating. Had this problem with 45 ACPs. I had a nice hole in a target with copper stuck in the paper around the hole. I went ahead and shot all 1000 rounds without an issue. I'm sure accuracy suffered. I didn't notice sence I was just playing around with IDPA drills.

FWIW, I called Ranier since they no longer publish loading data.

I asked, and they affirmed, to simply use data for loading lead bullets.
