Illinois is the most ridiculous state, and I was born downstate, raised downstate, and even though I lived downstate, I spent 30 years under Chicago's boot since they control the whole state.

I had to move before the laws made me go crazy. Even from another state, I still want to scream after seeing that vote. I'd like to move home some day, but until Chicago stops running the state, it's impossible to live freely downstate.

I am really sorry for this you IL folks

TAKE IT TO SCOTUS and show them what the deal is.

Regarding SCOTUS

That point was brought up by a rep. Basically he said "vote for it now or get it shoved down your throats through SCOTUS".

I hear you Harry, I lived in Florida for 7 years but moved back so I could make more money. I would kill(no pun intended) for Illinois to have Gun Laws half as free as Florida's.

Illinois Legislators Rejects CCW Bill - May 5, 2011

May 5 the Illinois Legislators rejected a CCW Bill allowing law abiding citizens to conceal and carry. (vote was 65 yes but needed 71 votes)

I'm from Missouri and it took awhile for our state to get a CCW law passed.

Illinois residents - keep trying - vote those who will not support this Bill out of office and replace them with someone who feels the way you do and most States in the USA and will uphold the 2nd Amendment.

As was brought up on THR, out of 102 IL counties, Quinn only carried 3.

Cook of course, and mostly likely Dupage and maybe Will.

99 counties didn't want him, but there he is in Springfield. So typical for IL.

Soooo disappointing! I live in Communist Illinois and really hoped it would pass this time. Let's give Chicago and upstate Illinois to Wisconsin. They don't want CCW either, so let them have that part of Illinois!

No, no. You can keep your upstate Illinois and Chicago. The Illinoying from Chicago come up and to my area often enough to let me know I'd rather not have Chicago. Although we will take Rockton so we can have Blackhawk Farms Raceway.

Wisco is THIS close to either Constitutional or Concealed. Both bills flying through for discussion this week and hopefully voted on soon after.

The problem with this whole issiue is that the Anti-Gun movement in Illinois has already summed up what it would do in responce to the passage of Conceal Carry in Illinois. It was summed up by the now departing mayor of Chicago, Richard M. Daley., who stated something to the effect ( I can't find the quote it was in the trib several weeks ago) that if people want to conceal carry handguns , they can go live in Dupage county, or Lake county or Will county or ,Kane county but NOT Cook county(The city of Chicago is in Cook county for all of you non Illinoisins).

This to me implies the intent for at the very least the City of Chicago if not the County of Cook to fight expanded 2A Freedomes on the local level and force supreme court showdowns just like Mcdonald v. Chicago.

Daley has already basically said that he doesn't care what the SC says - there will be no guns in Chicago (something to that effect).

It's really weird, it’s like these cities that are "Sanctuary Cities" for illegal immigrants. I guess people feel they only have to follow the laws that they agree with. And that goes for the constitution.

I wonder how well it would go over if any mayor decided to shut down the city newspapers and only allow them to print under his or her guidelines.

We live in an upside downs state.

But still - I don't wanna hear from Packers fans about it!

Go Bulls !

Can't wait to CC in Illinois, I am ready to go.

Sadly I do not think Terry Link or Carol Sente will be very helpful fighting for this bill.

Got a belt, going to get a CC pistol in the next month or so (going to a couple of gun shows) and last but not least will be this backwards state finally legalizing CC.

BTW, C0untZer0 we have the same stomping grounds. I noticed your google review of a LGS in Arlington Heights that shall not be named.

Maybe I was harsh on him, but he doesn't have some kind of answering machine? It's ridiculous. And he's closed Wednesdays.... ?

Since I did that review I met him in person and he seems like an OK guy.

I hate to say it but I agreed 100% with your assessment of the place, I went in for some ammo once and was far from impressed. It took 20 mins to get a price on the SIG I was looking for.

I like going to Shore Gallery in Lincolnwood if you ever get out there. The only downside is they are a big LEO dealer and cannot sell certain things out of stock to civilians (such as Speer ammo, new SIG pistols...)

The plus side is they have a LOT of gear, holsters and the like.

Don't know if any of you guys are in State Rep. District #59 or State Senate District #30 but Carol Sente and Terry Link are having a joint town hall up in Vernon Hills on the 20th. We only need to change a couple of minds to get HB148 through, so close yet so far away!

I am not sure about these "Town Halls" but ISRA urges its members to attend, so I guess I will.

Town hall meetings are a great place to call out the antis out on their lies and misinformation.

My understanding is that we pretty much stomped ass at both of LaShawn Ford's town hall meetings.

Go there if you can.

Some of the antis arguments are so full of BS it's sad.

Countzero, I never see your screen name at the Illinois Carry forums. Have you joined us yet?

I'm a 59 year old man and lived in Illinois for 38 years. I'll be 75 years old and pregnant before Illinois will have a handgun carry law

At 75, I sure would welcome a positive EPT though

I tried to register at the Illinois Carry forum, but I got tripped up on the "Prove you're human" thing and they have a trick question there asking what is the capitol of Illinois.

It wasn't my fault though... on the registration page they spelled capitol capital.

I know we're going bankrupt but I don't know the total capital of Illinois...

I'll go back and try again.

Poll at "The Voice" newspaper

Poll for the week of 10/12/11

Do you support the Illinois Concealed Carry Law?

http://thevoicenewspapers.blogspot.com/

The poll is on the right side of the web page - interesting picture they used to head the poll.

The poll also allows people to leave comments.

The poll is flawed in a lot of ways - for one thing it doesn't tie a single vote to a single e-mail address - but then again this is Chicago - vote early and vote often.

I think the important thing is that this is La Shawn K Ford's district and he is an important swing vote.
