Supplies to get started
I'm a new reloader who is just about to start (at the very beginning) I'm posting 2 threads today, one to get input on equipment, and this one to get input on supplies.
The Calibers I plan to load for are 22-250, 30.06, 300win mag, 300RUM, and 45-70....possibly 223, 308 & 12ga as well. What types of powder/primers should I be shopping for at this point...can anyone recommend brands/types to me. As for brass I will probably pick up some cheap stuff for plinking loads with each caliber and some of the nosler for my hunting rounds. And I'm curious, how many rounds do you all typical find necessary to work out a decent load for hunting, I'm guessing the small boxes of 50 bullets aren't going to cut it, but will 100 of each type probably do? Any other supplies that should be on my list? |

After getting at least one manual, I would start with the 22-250 and the 30-06 to get some experience. IMR 4064 has been good for both. I usually have 100 cases for each rifle caliber and 500 cases for each pistol. I generally have 1000 primers for each.
