Trim to length ?
When reloading rifle ammo, in my case, .30-06, .308 & .222 Rem, The reloading specs give a TTL dimension. Okay, I do the TTL to the specification, or within a thousanth of an inch +/-. (deburr & chamfer the case mouth too.)
So then after firing once or twice, what do y'all suggest as the upper dimension before you either TTL again or discard the brass? TIA Roger

Within reason, it dosnt matter the length, as long as they are too long of course. What matters is they are all the same.
For my target loads, I trim all the same lenght, after each firing. Consistancy is what counts.

Roger
The maximum case length is almost universally 0.010" longer than the trim length. Keep loading them until either the case mouth splits or the web has stretched, showing an internal depression in the brass.

All the reloading manuals that I own provide the case or cartridge dimensions for each caliber listed. If your case exceeds the stated case length, it needs to be trimmed to the stated TTL. If the case does not exceed the stated case dimension, it does not need trimming unless you want all your cases to be of the same length which is preferable for match ammo or cannelured bullets.

My method, may not work for you.
I tumble, then size and deprime. Next I set my dial caliper on the max length by the book and trim anything too long. Then load all of the above. While checking length, they get the visual for any deformities. I don't segregate for too short. I personally don't see that as an issue, I might if shooting competition or something. elkman06
