AR Questions

I just purchased an AR and have a couple of questions.
I got a Colt Match Target I had a bushmaster before and
had a add on stud to mount a bipod. Would the same stud
work on the colt.
Also what is the best ammo these days to use for plinking
and defense.
What are the best mags to buy?

Thanks

I lived in Naples for several years before transferring to WPB.

I'm not sure about the stud?

For plinking I like the PMC and Prvi Partisan 55 grain FMJ-BT

For defense my preference is Hornady TAP FPD 75 grain HP-BT (with a 1:7 twist)

For magazines I'm a fan of the Magpul PMAGS.

Basically, your gun is an A2 or A3 style gun. So, this kind of bipod adapter should basically work.

Several different studs made for the plastic hand guards.

My ammo of choice is Lake City M193 surplus, .30 cents a round, full power and accurate. You can save about .10 cents a round shooting steel case but it tends to be dirty ammo.

Pmags are OK, some have problems with mag well fit and there are some reports of the Pmags swelling with age causing the mag not to drop free of the mag well. This is not a problem with usgi mag. D&H mags with the current follower are about $9 ea.
