powerbelts
Tell me what you think of 50 cal powerbelts with pyrodex pellets. My experience has been somewhat mixed. Does loose powder shoot with more consistent velocity and accuracy?

Some people report decent accuracy with them. Personally - I have yet to see it.
Yes, loose powder almost always shoots more consistently than pellets. |

i have traditions yukon, i tried to shoot 2 pellets with a 295 grain powerbelt. i could not get accuracy that was good at all, i thought of changing bullets but decided to try powder instead. i now use 80 grains of blackhorn 209 and the 295 grain powerbelt, i get groups of 1 inch or less at 100 yds.

IMO, one of the keys to shooting Powerbelts accurately, if your rifle likes them at all, is not over charging load. I get very good accuracy/consistency shooting 295's out of a Rem. 700 with a loose powder charge of 90grns.
I've not found any combination of powder or Powerbelt that shoots worth a dime in my T/C Encore. Don't care for pellets when it come to fine accuracy. Take two pellets of supposedly the same grn. and weigh them. You'll most likely to not get the same weight out of two pellets in a whole box. |
