Colt 1911 Aficionado's - The Time is Almost Here...

Okay..., so I was just thinking... here it is 2009 almost 2010, and there ought to be some HUGE influx of Centennial Editions of the classic Colt 1911 in the works.

I haven't heard anything about this but I am sure there are more than a few manufacturers out there thinking about the big day, rubbing their grimy little hands together and I for one... can't wait to see what is in store for all of us aficionado's out there! I guess I better start saving my dollars now. Anybody heard anything about the big upcoming event or is this just all in my little pea brain? Maybe I should work for Colt or one of the many clone manufacturers out there.

Can't wait to see what the boys have on the drawing boards for the big Birthday Bash - The 100 Year Anniversary of the Colt 1911!!

I'm wondering too.

I've never been much of a collector. If I'm not going to shoot it and carry it, use it on a regular basis, I don't buy it. But I have to say, if there is some sort of 100 year anniversary super special awesome edition, I would probably be putting that one up in my safe.

It seems fitting, or right to make my first " collectible gun " A 100 year anniversary 1911, being that a 1911 is my favorite handgun of all time.

I wonder who all will make one? Colt for sure....I wonder how much it will cost

I'm thinking at least some drop dead gorgeous hand engraving (none of that laser engraving crap, etc.) and Gold inlays! Of course... on a classically - deeply blued and highly polished STEEL.

I'm with you... I like to shoot 'em also. Depending on cost, etc., it just maybe a shooter as well! Maybe one of the "Cheaper Editions"

I'd be surprised if Les Baer didn't make one. They make Thunder Ranch 1911's, so why not? Wilson too. Definitely Colt. Ruger should INTRODUCE one on the centennial. That's all I can think of that I would bet on. Well, the Ruger is just a hope, but the others should do something.

Colt needs to make one for the centennial the same exact way and to the same exact specs as it did in 1911... and then sell it for the same price as it was in 1911!

Colt offers a 1918 WWI replica, which is a pretty basic 1911 like the first one. I'd sure rather have that than some fancied up "Commemorative" with a bunch of crap on the slide. Careful what you wish for, you may actually get it.

I hope there will be a surge of remakes of the original 1911, preferably that don't cost $1,000+.
