star pd question
i recently purchased a star pd the aluminum frame has a copper color on part of it any thoughts on what this is? i love the color and wish to reproduce it on the whole frame. anybody know a good gunsmith who works on stars?

The aluminum frame can be anodized any color you want. Not sure if the PD came in any finish other than blue or clear anodize, but Star did make guns in colors.

thanks bill. it appears to be under the black of the anodizing. it has been suggested it is a copper wash used before anodizing

Anodizing does not use an undercoating, so they are wrong.
Most of the gun refinishers can anodize aluminum any color under the rainbow. |

Star made some nice guns before the govt shut them down. I have a STAR BM in 9mm that I bought new 20 years ago for 200.00 dealer cost. Had the gun high polished and blued since it came with a cheap finish. Looks like the finish on an old Colt Python now. Only fired around 200 rounds through it and haven't fired it in 15 years, but it is great to look at.
