Need advice! NOW WITH PICS!

My girlfriend just told me she found what she is suspecting to be her grandfathers older shotguns/rifles. Some are still in boxes dated as early as 1954, she thought. Officially not a c and r i believe, but my main question is these haven't been shot or cared for in a long time. any tips or product you guys use to restore some of the more neglected gun you find? obviously these are pretty important to the family, and as the gun nut boyfriend i'm the guy who gets to restore these guns. Messing up is not an option with these guys.

Get details on each firearm and take lots of good pics of the guns to post here and you'll get all the advice you'll ever need.

Any gun that is over 50 years old is "officially" a Curio/relic. If these guns pre-date 1958, they are C&R.

alright got the guns but don't have the camera at my house. i guarentee i'll have pics up before the night is over. but they're some pretty cool guns.

1. Savage model 15a single shot .22. if i had to guess probably from around the 60-70's, newer style stock. oddly enough i can't for the life of me find a serial number though.

2. Winchester model 90 .22 wrf, pump action, octagon barrel, fair amount of tarnish but after alittle hoppe's the action is decently smooth. serial #789*** has a flip up sight on the grip area of the stock pretty cool. also in that box there are three or so boxes of ammo.

3. Springfield 1903 with c stock, does have a adjustable sight tapped into the back of the reciever. this ones in pretty decent shape overall. i think is a higher serial number 993*** rebarreled in 9-41 with usmc near the front sight. has the circle p proof mark on the stock

one of the kinda odd thing is the boxes they were in looked like marine corp shipping boxes dated around 54, sealed with olive drab tape.

i know this is all useless with out pics. but the gf is bringing a camera over when go to the range to try out an ruger lcp. any info on these of the top of your guys head

1. You have a heck of a girlfriend! She got a sister?

2. The Savage may not have a S/N, many guns prior to 1960-something did not, nor were they required to.
3. I'll take that 1903 off your hands!

2. on the savage the stock has a more modern line, which me guess the date. but i've looked it over pretty hard and yeah can't find a s/n
3. I've got specific instructions there will be no selling/trading of any of the guns, all i get to do is oggle them once a month when i wipe them down to keep the rust off....maybe if i do sweet talking and cooking i may get to take them to the range once or twice.

the big bummer is her cousin snaked the m1911 that was her grandfather's during his tour in ww1(?i believe). That one is rumored to be cherry before it went to montana with the cousin, her husband isn't the smartest guy and i'm betting its not exactly being babied like it should.

Wow. Those look to be in fine shape as is. Probably nothing more than a basic cleaning, light wipedown with a good gun oil and a home someplace dry is all that's needed. Depending on your confidence level in doing so, maybe taking off the stocks and checking for hidden corrosion then oiling would be in order.

Others will probably chime in with good recommendations on various preservatives, oils and chemicals that'd be useful to you . . .

By all means marry that girl . . . quick!

i've actually got the first two apart they were actually pretty simple. the pump 22 got a lot smoother after some lube, still nothing never my remington 870. but not bad for a 70? year old gun. the 1903 after some lube was super smooth i honestly felt as good as new. the barrels all need a good scrubbing. but heck of a find.

just out of my own curiousity what would the 1903 be worth and when would you guess the winchester to be made.

i am quite lucky because also in her collection is a remington 700 in .270 with a monster weaver on it and a winchester o/u 95-12ga
fortunately i've got some leverage, in my collection is a little taurus 85 snub ss that is unofficially hers, every now and then it sports the pink rubber grips.
