Need your help and knowledge!!
Due to the recommendation of multiple members here, I'm looking at getting a gun safe, more specifically, a nightstand/handgun/valuables safe. I've found this one, a GunVault GV2000C-DLX Multi Vault Deluxe Gun Safe now at Gander Mountain its selling for 199.99 but I found it online at Amazon.com for $120. They didn't have one on display at Gander so I didn't really get to check it out. I've seen a couple mixed reviews, some very favorable, some very miserable. Anyone in TFL world have any experience with this safe? Thanks for all replies!

no experience with the product, sorry. But I would like to point out , does the cheaper online price include shipping/delivery? Lots of things are cheaper on the internet, but wind up costing as much, or even more by the time you get them home.
Just a thought.

Just reading the description, looks like it would be a decent gun box.
http://www.gunvault.com/handgun-safe...ti-deluxe.html I like that the 'beep' can be disabled and there's an interior light. Just understand that it needs to be bolted to a wall somehow. If thieves come to rob you while you're away at work, all they'd have to do is pick it up and walk out. Here it is on Midway and the reviews are quite favorable. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/583...50BrandPopProd |

The first question I would ask myself is: Am I happy with the present amount of guns I own or do I plan on increasing my addiction/collection?
If you answered that you plan on increasing the number of guns, you may want to consider buying a larger safe; one that is anchored into the floor and has a fireproof rating. If you decide to stay with what you selected, make sure it is indeed bolted to something that a would be thief would not be able to pry loose easily.

Going to move this over to gear and accessories. Should be more at home there.

im not sure if that one is the fingerprint/bio-ID or whatever they call it.
I would recommend AGAINST the fingerprint version. just my humble opinion, but i wouldn't trust that type of mechanism for a quick access safe. the four button one is super fast and wont fail if you have gunk (blood) on your fingers, or if the digital gods are having a bad day. |

To answer some of the questions. Yes, the deal came with free shipping. No it isn't a fingerprint, its 4 push buttons. I was able to check it out yesterday in person at Gander Mountain (that brought it out for display on black friday), they just didn't have the best deal. I'm only asking because I did read some unfavorable reviews but I was hoping some of those bad reviews were people who just didn't read all the instructions. I'd think for a retail price of $200, it wouldn't be some dysfunctional bottom rung handgun safe.
Also, someone asked about expanding my collection. Right now, I have a shotgun and 3 handguns. My dad gave me his gun cabinet. Its not a safe. I think after I get this safe my next purchase will be a 1911 model. But that will take months to gather the funds and after that, I'll revisit my strategy. But I need this handgun safe anyways by the bed because right now, it's just up in a closet in the bedroom. So, it's needed anyways. |

the reason i assumed it was the fingerprint one is because ive seen the button ones for $100...
i hope im thinking of a smaller or less featured safe than you purchased. |

You can find typical reviews like this online. What matters is what features are important to you and which ones are you willing to take a chance with.
http://www.bestbiometricgunsafe.com/...-you-read-this Here’s what we like and don’t like about the Gunvault GV2000C-DLX Multi Vault Deluxe Gun Safe: The Good SIZE-it can hold at lease 3 handguns, some ammunition, passport, wallet and cash. Perfect for the person with a small gun collection that desires to store all of them in one location. It makes life very convenient for that type of individual. SIMPLE SETUP-although it is a biometric type safe that normally requires a painstakingly difficult process, this takes only minutes to set up and doesn’t require extensive guides or additional help. EASY ACCESS-For those of you that need access, its very quick to use. Therefore it can be mounted near your bed for emergency situations and even used in the dark for quick access. The Bad DURABILITY- seems as if the smaller components of the gun safe do not have too long of a shelf life. The internals of the finger pad unlock seems to wear out. This can be frustrating. WARRANTY-since the average warranty for these types of safes are normally 12 months, there are certain issues that has been prevalent for this model that should be covered under extended warranties. A customer has reported having the unit broken after 14 months and the company offered to replace it for a fee. ERRATIC ISSUES-some have noted that the machine malfunctions when put into particular conditions such as extreme heat or coldness for extended periods of time. One person had reported leaving it in his car for 3 days only to have it “spazz” out on him. CONCLUSION Gunvault GV2000C-DLX Multi Vault Deluxe Gun Safe- Mainly created for space and ease of use, this model developed by Gunvault has fallen short of achieving a number of its goals but still is considered a mid-tiered piece of equipment for its price. However, when considering it performance in the field, rather than its spec sheet on paper, reality casts a big shadow over this device. On top of that, given that the lack of a longer warranty for its consistent problems, it’s hard to give this a glowing rating. |
