I can't comment on the dillon so I won't. Folks seem to like Dillon's so that can't be that bad.
The pro2000 is a very solid stout steel press. I have the progressive option on mine and have moved the powder dispenser to station 2 so I can have a powder check on 3 and then seat and crimp as separate steps. I have loaded over a quarter million rounds in mine and it just cranks them out. The APS strips work great and I have never blown a primer in mine. Mine is nicely worn in so it is very smooth. I get great ammo out of it and have no problems. RCBS support has been great about replacing anything I have wanted or worn. No questions asked. My regret on the pro2000 is that it is a 5 station press. You really need about 7 or 9 stations. That way you can universal decap and have a lube die etc. Get what you want, but I would say the pro2000 is a great press.

I had my 550B for 4½ years and 70,000+ rds before I sold it to make room for my XL650 w/casefeeder. The 550B is the industry standard for a progressive reloader (yes, it is a progressive, just not an auto indexing one). It is far and away the favorite of competitive shooters as well as world champions and they use their presses a great deal and find out quickly which brand hold up.
It's also solid as a rock, simple to use, stays adjusted over time, and Dillon stands behind every one. The sole reason I sold mine was that I wanted a casefed press that would handle .223 and 30 carbine calibers, something the 550B's casefeeder won't do. The Hornady LnL is actually the same as the Dillon XL650 (5 hole auto indexing progressive) when both are equipped with a casefeeder as the XL650 is designed for. In addition, Hornady's LnL currently has an issue with their die collars being too soft which causes problems. Do a search on Hornady LnL issues and you can read about it. |
