EBR hunting

I'm curious, is it legal to hunt with a EBR in Washington state. A gun-store-guy told me it was, so you understand why i need to clarify. I'm not a hunter myself, altho i'd like to bo one. Anyway by EvilBlackRifle i mean AR-15 in .223 with the 20rd mag, or my AK or PTR91. I always thought that minimum caliber was .243 and maximum magazine capacity was 5 rounds. But since i'm not a hunter i'm not really sure why i thought that...
anyway, thanks guys

Go to the Washington fish and game web site or better yet go to you local hunting license vendor and get a rule book. Answers you can depend on will be found there.

22 centerfire are illegal for elk, deer and bear, but can be used for cougar. Minimum for elk, deer and bear is 24 caliber (6mm). See page 55 of the '06 big game regs.

Another factor is Magazine Capacity. Most states have a 5 Round maximum while hunting...1 in the chamber and 4 in the magazine max...
