Yugo 57 bang or no bang W or/WO Mag
Yugo 57, Does the mag need to be in the gun in order to fire? or can it fire without the mag? I have 2 yugo's 57, each does the opposite?

The original Russian and East Bloc Tokarevs had neither a magazine safety nor a manual safety. If I understand correctly, the Zastava factory put manual safeties on later issue guns and then put both manual and magazine safeties on guns manufactured for export to the U.S. So it would depend on the age of the gun whether it might have a magazine safety or not.
Other milsurp Tokarevs have had manual (but not magazine) safeties added to comply with U.S. import requirements; some of those are quite crude and some don't even work well. Jim |
