I’ll miss her

I’ve been out of the forum as well as my other gun forums, my previous posts stopped in 2006, but I was still casting and shooting! Retirement has given me more time to peruse the forums. It is kinda nice to see some topics never change! I love the posts about wives and girlfriends object to the smell of gun cleaning/lubricating products so they can’t clean their guns inside or have to use non toxic low odor products.
Me I love the smell of Hoppes in the morning…..it smells of..victory! I open up the bottle and douse a patch with it, even when I’m using a different cleaner
My wife wholeheartedly objects the idea!
She said she’s leaving if I don’t stop cleaning in the house! GOD I’m gonna miss her!!!!

My father-in-law used to clean his shotguns with Hoppes, so my wife has nostalgic associations with the smell. She loves it. Sometimes I'll put just a dash behind my ear....

The reason I started cleaning with MPro-7, Hoppes Elite and some of the better foaming bore cleaners is because they clean really well. Better than the products I had been using before.

I tried a bunch of cleaners as an experiment, and settled on the ones that worked the best. The fact that they were low odor and reduced toxicity was nice, but that was just a bonus.

I still use Ballistol, BreakFree CLP, Kroil and other products that have a strong smell for some things, so it's not like I have abandoned anything with an odor. It's that I use what works best.

My wife used to always complain about the smell of Ballistol, then she wanted to clean some rust off of some antique find she had, so I gave her the Ballistol and a stainless steel sponge, worked great. Now she’ll ask me, “Will Ballistol clean this?” She’s hooked.

My boss er am wife can’t stand licorice and Ballistol is her least preferred gun cleaning product, I’m relegated to the shop for cleaning my BP guns or using Ed’s! Which is how come I get to use Hoppes in the house! I use Hoppes while watching Hoppy
I use Hoppes on my safe guns and Ed’s on my lead shooters!
