Faxon or Ballistic Advantage barrel
Looking to replace a barrel on my AR with a Faxon or Ba barrel, Which one would you choose? SS doesn't allow for White Oak or other premium brands. Thanks

Ballistic advantage, dont touch faxon. Long story, but in short, you cannot call faxon and talk to somone if you have a problem, you can call ballistic advantage and talk to somone fairly easily. I have had 2 faxon barrels, the 2nd one was a warrant replacement of the first, and i only got it after a lot of arguing and spending more money on ammo to test the barrel than it would have cost me to but a new one. And I'm still not happy with the performance pf the match grade barrel they sent me to replace the duty grade barrel that was shooting 8in groups at 100yds with m193.
Ballistic advantage, I have had 2 of their barrels and helped co-worker install another 2. All have been great shooters and they have great customer service. And yes.... that is the shory version.... Personally if you can save up a touch more id look at the criterion core series, they run about $325. Match grade chrome lined, long service life, excellent reputation. Will ve buying one to replace my faxon match grade, hopefully not too far off.

Either / or. I have multis of each. Had one experience with my first Faxon which was remedied with them through effective communication.

Never tried a FAXON barrel, but many BA barrels. The BA barrels are usually flawless and accurate, but I did encounter one 300bo barrel that was over gassed. Adding buffer weights solved the problem, but I have relegated that particular gun to the fun only squad and not the “dealing with threats” collection.

I'm a small data point; I build rifles for my own use.
I have a 16" Faxon pencil barrel that will shoot to 2moa with good ammunition and only opens up to 3moa with steel case Wolf. None of that is getting the barrel extraordinarily hot so I can't speak to how accuracy would deteriorate with heat. I've a couple of BA 13.7" barrels. The A2-ish military profile is truly mediocre to bad. Even with good brass 77gr, it's a 4moa barrel. The other is a Hanson profile; I can shoot it to 2moa.
