Real men dont use a fanny pack

I bought a leather "fanny pack" with inner holster for my colt commander.
its got room for gun,extra mags,knives,flashlights etc.
I just cant bring myself to wear it in public.
I used to snicker at guys with fanny packs, dont know if im "man enough" to wear one now.
would like some opinions either way.

Not enough control of the weapon with a pack. You would problem give off mega vibes that there is something to take in it anyway.

Perhaps it is the environment in which you move/work. I've worn a fanny pack for close to 30 years, now. San Diego, Anza, CA, here in Moses Lake. Anza and Moses Lake are definitely "good 'ol boy" farmer types and they don't look twice.

Actually, my wife carries a Maxpedition Fat Boy as her regular purse whether she is out in the field or not.

Given you folks are nervous about a fanny pack giving away the fact that you are carrying a gun and maybe being indicative of y'all being light in the loafers, then a Fat Boy worn by a man should just about cause you to panic

Go tell Hulk Hogan that fanny packs aren't for real men.

Fashion aside they are a prime target for thieves since you probably have wallet, gun, camera, etc in the pack. I have a small pack for camping where fashion isn't a priority but I went with a Pacsafe that has metal mesh to make it cut proof and a cable in the waist belt which not only makes it cut proof (thieves will slash the belt on packs and run) but lets you lock it to something if necessary.

I ride a Dyna model Harley, and I don't use saddlebags. I have a small pack on my triple-trees, that's it.

However, when I was interested in varmint shooting, some of the guys wanted to go far back into remote areas where there was less hunting pressure. They would use "day packs," meaning smaller pouches for short time use and hikes.

While I don't go on many overnight rides on my bike, it would be nice to have some essentials. Yes, toothbrushes, small pill-boxes, dry socks and such can be jammed into the larger pockets of a jacket. But I can see the use of a fanny pack for slightly larger things, like flashlights, spare sunglasses, a first-aid kits, etc.

I carry my fanny pack to the gym every time I go and would not hesitate to wear it in the summer if it was my only carry option.

I've worn a fanny pack for years cross country skiing. Lots of other guys wear them skiing too.
The only issue I see is the security thing. If you keep your eyes open while wearing one with a pistol in it, you should be OK. But, be vigilant.
I wear one hunting too.
Heck, I have a Duluth green canvas shell bag that I carry stuff in, on certain occasions, that looks like a purse. Of course, I'm 6' 3" tall, and weigh 220 pounds and am 73 years old, so no one says chit to me about carrying it.

Most importantly, I don't have a problem carrying it. If I can carry shotgun shells in it to the range, I can carry other stuff in it on an airplane trip with no bad feelings. Besides, all the women like and I get LOTS of contacts that way..LOL

Fanny pack? Most people who know nothing about guns won't even give you a second glance. And, as some people mentioned above, fanny packs work well in certain situations.

From a security standpoint, seems like I read those things are targets since a lot of male tourists keep valuables with them that they don't want to leave in the room.

As far as wearing one in public, don't think I could. I'm beyond the age of being concerned with "cool" but I do have my own standards.

the only time i could see myself wearing one would be while hiking or riding a bicycle. it might be a better option than open carry or ccw for these activities.
