Shipping parts through the mail.

I need to send a shotgun barrel back to the manufacturer for repair. Since this part isn't a receiver, do I have to follow any of the normal BS one has to follow when shipping a gun, or can I just throw it in a box and send it from the local post office? TIA for any info anyone can give.

I think I would package it a little more carefully than your post suggests. Other than that, yes. Put it in a box and mail it. It is not a firearm.

I've seen a triangle shaped long box (I think it is one of the USPS priority mail boxes) that is perfect for a barrel. Wrap it in bubble wrap and off it goes.

You've got it. As long as it's not a serialized part (receiver) then you're good to go. I have found though that UPS is often cheaper for mailing long packages, plus you get the insurance (up to $100.00) and tracking for free.

A barrel without the rest of the gun is just a metal tube. Ship it.
