M1A Socom Brake replacement
My rifle came with a synthetic stock, muzzle brake, barrel mounted rail, and night sights in front.
I can't shoot this weapon for metallic beasts at my range due to the brake. "It's unfair to the other shooters" WhatbuchaWoosies? I can tell you from Springfield tech support the following information: "I can tell you that the muzzle break is removable, the thread pitch is 0.670 x 40."That's a thread diameter of about 43/64" Are not these threads a bit different???? I can put a can on it and everbody will be happy. Whoa! Even if I can get the brake off, what kinds of options have I for a omega-300 flash suppressor / adapter ??? tanks

My friend has a Socom 16.... When that thing comes out, I just have to take a walk. Even with the best earplugs, I simply cannot be anywhere nearby except crouching directly behind him at his 6 o'clock; not 5, not 7, but 6. I've shot the thing and it's not so bad for the shooter, but it's hell on anyone else.

That's why muzzle brakes are not allowed in NRA high-power.

Smith Enterprise makes a kit that allows you to run a Vortex flash hider and a standard front sight. I use this kit on my 16.25" M14.
