Golf balls & tin cans are the two standby's. Toss em out kinda close and eventually they wind up waaay down range. Had em takin turns, shoot till you miss, count consecutive hits, high count wins, loser has to go gather up the cans at the end.
This is very politically incorrect, so you might or might not want to do it with your kids (I did.). Those styrofoam heads that women keep their wigs on...Very very reactive, bounce high, lots of laughs. Maybe you could do an Osama face on it with magic marker to make it more 'acceptable' to onlookers. Mods feel free to delete that if you feel it's not in line with the intended projected image of the board. We had so many laughs doing that though... |

As a finale, a case of really cheap soda is fun. Shake the cans up and shoot them unopened. You want to do it last because it will leave the target area sticky.
For an even more explosive result, try shooting a can of shaving cream. Balloons are always fun and cheap. If it's real windy, you may need to tie them to something.

Charcoal biquettes, eggs, balloons, tin cans. I like the charcoal makes a black puff when hit with a .22. Check with your range before you use these items. Some don't allow them.
