My minimum is 3 magazines.

My 'target' is whatever number allows me to load an entire 50 round box. Admittedly, this means 7 magazines for some guns, and I have a loose round left over.

But, 3 is my minimum [except my Femaru M37, where mags are over $150 for original ones- I've got 2 and am ok there].

Depends on the gun. If it's something not serious and just for my collection, 1 magazine is fine. If it's for social work, I learned long ago that 3 is the magic number. If you have two magazines and you lose one or it busts, then you're down to one mag. If you have three and something happens to one, you have two.

It's the old "two is one, one is none" thing.

So, 3 is my minimum, 5 is my ideal number.

For revolver speedloaders, I don't really care for them. One is fine, after that I'll rely on speed strips and a two round speed reload.

Each one of my Pistols and Revolvers gets it's own Midway OD Green Pistol Case. They have pouch's for 7 Magazines under the Flap on One side. Plus one in the Gun totals Eight Minimum.
I shoot ICORE Revolver Match's. I have Safariland Comp III speed loaders in the magazine pouch's of Revolver Cases. Plus some additional Comp III's and HKS for Load and Make Ready in the zipper pouch on the other side. I have between 12 and 15 HKS Speed Loaders for my 617 S&W 22 LR.
I only have 2 Speed Loaders for my SP101 in 22 LR due to the fact that I am not all that impressed with what is available for it. I do however have several Speed Strips in 22 LR for it.
If you do not need several speed loaders or magazines for your handgun, you are not shooting nearly enough.

For my Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite I have 12 magazines, They are arranged in two sets, one for competition and one for practice. If the competition mags go bad during a match I just switch to my practice magazines..

For my Ruger Mark III Hunter I only have 9 magazines at this time. All are working well.

I prefer to have 8-10 magazines per autoloader, but I'm ok with 2-3 speedloaders per revolver.

I've seen "preppers" have 20 for each gun, ready to shoot.

3 to 4 seems ok.

I like to have a minimum of 3 for each pistol. 1 in the gun fully loaded and two to carry for back up if needed.

My goal is a minimum of 5 mags for each handgun. For my ARs, about 10 per.

I "require" at least 4 for each gun. I "like" and therefore have 6 per gun. I never actually carry more than 2 extra mags or speedloaders. If I have to take a gun off before going in somewhere, I don't want to fiddle with getting 5 or 6 mags out of pouches and off my belt. I know a few guys personally that carry 4 or more mags on them, I think they're nuts, but it's their life.

For my carry gun I keep 3. For everything else 2 is the minimum. If you have something rare you are going to keep and shoot I would get several in case they are hard to find.

Well I also don't carry 5 or 6 magazines on my person for a carry gun (I will also say that I have never heard of anyone that does) but on the rare occasion when I am forced to disarm to go in to some place that prohibits my firearm, I still keep my back-up magazine on me. It most certainly isn't a firearm of any manner and I don't care about their opinion, I follow the law.

I have 4-6 mags per pistol, with the exceptions being the 1911 and Hi-Power (8 mags each). I have the minimum of 4 for my HKs as they try to murder you on factory mags! Other than OEM mags, the only others I generally use are Mec-gar and Wilson Combat.

One in the pistol and 1-2 on the side for carry.

I feel good with 3. But my S&W shield has 6, my Berettas share 7 or 8, 1911s have I think 12, and my ARs share around 20. The more the merrier!! If I see a magazine for one of my guns on sale I'll usually buy it.

I carry FIVE (5) 20 round magazines in addition to the starting 20+1 rounds in the FNH FiveseveN pistol. My ammo is a mix of uploaded AE 40 grain FMJ making 2,000 FPS, and Hornady V-max 40 Grain making just over 2,000 fps.

For a couple of pocket .380s I have, I get by with two mags each. Every other gun I might carry, I have a minimum of 4 mags. I don't know how many mags I have for my 1911s, maybe 50 or 60, but then I have more than just a couple of 1911s.

For carry guns, at least 10.. 5 are practice mags, 5 for carrying (not all at the same time). Same thing for speed loaders. All are marked and numbered

Usually, 4+ mags for all my autos, 2 speed loaders minimum for my revolvers. I don't count speed clips. I only use them if I have to, but it's not important to me.

4 for my shield
4 for my 669
2 for my p22
2 for my p32
2 speed loaders for my M-10
3 speed loaders for my 637

I am most prone to carry my shield or my 637 but every once in a while I break out the 669. Unfortunately I don't get the opportunity to carry much anymore as I work a ton of hours so my shield is with me the most in my car safe.
