Safariland Holsters

Well, I got my Safariland 5188 paddle in today for my Springfield XD 45, and I was pretty impressed.

It appears to be a good quality holster. It fits both the gun and my body good, and I like the suede lining (although some don't). I bought it for both carry and IDPA competition. It was reasonably priced at $35 directly from Safariland at http://www.holsters.com.

I like it so much that I ordered a 6378 paddle for my S&W M&P 40.

If these are the thumbreak type made of the Safariland composite or man-made material, dont over flex the thumbreak/retention strap...that's the weak point of the system..they are prone to "work-hardening" (for lack of a better term) and breaking off...i've had to replace at least one of these same holsters in my career...just be careful with that area...I love Safariland gear, been wearing it on duty, in one form or another, since 1975. The leather gear is just made of a better material...you've done well!

Mine are open top, without thumbbreaks, but thanks for the advice...

BTW, I'm glad to hear that Safariland products have been on the market since '75 or before. That tells me they make good stuff...
