I've had all kinds of fitment problems with their AR10 platform stuff

both have erratic line-up with other DPMS style uppers--as well other's LPK's don't always work well with their lowers

Isn't it recommended to stick with one manufacturer for all the major AR10 parts on a gun?

It's my understanding that with 308 ARs, there really isn't a strict standard that all manufactures fully adhere to.

I have had two uppers (out of about 200) that did not get the final machining done correctly. One is still on the bench.

I've got the middle ground on the Aero argument.
I think they make good stuff. But I also don't think it's THAT good. They're a mass manufacturer. Their name goes on stuff made to the same specs as the receivers they make for AR Stoner and other brands.
Quality control screws up sometimes.

If they were my own parts, I'd be looking at the PSA charging handle being bad, before suspecting the Aero upper. But that doesn't mean that I'd never consider the Aero part(s) being out of spec.


And, bonus tidbit: Aero Precision makes some of the PSA uppers and lowers!

That's true--but if you build quite a few of these things--you'd be surprised how RARE it is that you can actually find all the parts by the same manufacturer in stock--unless you buy their matched uber-stealth tactical engraved death to everything custom cerakoted with Beethoven's 9th symphony woods camo pattern assembled receiver set.

Of all the xx308 lowers I've used--the Aero's are without a doubt the most problematic--except that they ALWAYS have them in stock when others don't.

I've read of many problems with PSA's AR10 parts not working with other companies parts even though it's based on the DPMS pattern. When it comes to building an AR10, best buy everything from one company.

I've got a Bushmaster AR10 in .308. The steel mag for that AR will not work in my Aero AR10. Yet Magpul's Pmags work in both. Go figure.

I've used parts from all the manufacturers mentioned in this thread (including DPMS and Stoner), and the only parts I've had trouble with are PSA's. I also have two friends that got defective 9mm AR bolts from PSA as well.

Oddly, this is making me want to dig thru my AR parts box... the parts box that I hid like the Ark of the Covenant... and see what I can throw together.
