Pedersoli 32 Kentucky

Found one three weeks ago at the Nations GS -- been looking for a few years as they're no longer made.

Took another week to get "itty-biity" equip/flex-ramrods/cleaning-rods/jags/molds together, and then played with 0.310"/0315"/0311"(LeeMould) options, along w/ 10-20thou patch material.

Spent quite a bit of time filing the front sight (thank you Pedersoli for the material -- it's a whole lot easier taking stuff off vs not having enough to start)

w/ my "standard" 1.3 X caliber start load (32 X 1.3 = 41.6) of 3F and zeroing for 50yards, I also played with a MAXIBALL from Lee --- 5 shots each.

`Think (yeah, right) I'll stay w/ PB for obvious reason, but I'll also drop the charge to 26gr (squirrel head shots) and see what happens accuracy-wise

Keep us posted. I'm very interested to hear what results you get. I'm a .32 caliber fan and reload for .32, so if you get good results it may spark an interest in me to pick up a used .32 Kentucky in the future.

Settled on the
HNDY 315" ball/0.010-Twill Patch
HNDY 310" ball/0.018 Ticking Patch
Lee Cast 311-312" ball/0.018 Ticking Patch (prints 1/2 quarter higher)

Original V-Notch Open Sights
6 o'clock hold

My eyes/sight picture precision account for ~ 1/2 the error.

Bear to get rifling clean (still sharp edges), even scrubbing with nipple-flush tube/hot soapy water.
Not like any of my other larger caliber BP muzzleloader rifles [all sidelock/all real BP... naturally]

Now use KG-1 as final scrub to attack carbon/leave with Ballistol coat to counteract any leftover.

Mehavey, that is very good shooting. I was disappointed to see your Maxiball results so dismal. Can you say what is the twist rate on the Pedersoli .32? I too am shooting .32 in a CVA, and my maxi groups are fair.

I should have bought a Pedersoli .36 in caplock when they were available.

My experience with Maxi Balls indicates mediocre accuracy until you approach maximum loads, then suddenly they group. In .45, the tight groups began as I approached 90-100 grains of black powder.
I had a .32 TC Cherokee that shot Maxi Balls well with about 40 grains of powder, think of it as a muzzle loading .32-40. Devastating on 'dillos.

That seems about half your previous test group, (with the Lee maxi's) and I would deem that very acceptable.....1-1/2" at 25. But.........57 gr of FFF, that has got to be a HEAVY load. But takes the .32 to a whole new level, which is what I was working towards myself.

I'm shooting 30 grs, still experimenting, want to try a over powder wad or patch over the charge next. Leery of going to more than 40 gr with the CVA.
