Maybe this is not news.....
....But Cabela's has the 1858 in .44, both short and long barrel down to 179.00 again.
The doctors are in agreement........Your wallet will have to come out.

I'd be tempted for an 1860.

More news
Just got an email from the "Big C". Twenty dollars off of all purchases over 150.00.
That brings the Remington down to 159.00 plus shipping and the 1860 down to 199.00 plus shipping. I have never seen the Remington lower than that. This deal is good until Jan 5.

And both are on backorder right now. 4-5 weeks.
The Doc is out now.

Hmmm, as of today, Jan 1, 2012, the price went up $30.00. Oh well, put the money to something else, I guess.
The Doc is out now.

I'm thinking maybe calling tomorrow and seeing if I can get in on a backorder on the pre-sale sale price. Had a .44 Remmie once - Lyman, and it shot fine, but I never quite liked the grip. Now I find that I do not have to force my little finger on the front of the grip, but can put it under and hold the gun just fine.
The Doc is out now.
