Does any one know which screws to tighten and which one not to tighten too much on the stock of a model 70? And how many INch lbs. to tighten them? And also is the factory trigger hard to adjust?

The buttplate nut should be torqued to 265 newtons.

The factory trigger is easy to adjust but it's better for a good smith to do it.
The action bolt that you want to be cautious about tightening is the middle one. Just get it snug. There are no standards that I'm aware of for tightening the two action bolts unless you have a HS Precision stock. IIRC, they recommend 65 INCH pounds. If it's anything else, I would get them a bit tighter than snug, but that's it. Giz |

Jeffly, , tighten the outer two and use the center one to sort of fine tune. I would never exceed 25inlbs on any guard screws in plain wood. In a partially bedded stock 45-50 inlbs and in a pillar bedded stock up to 65 inlbs. If your rifle is bedded start at about 30 and work up at 5lb increments until you find the tightness that groups best for you. George
