Someone suggested Bing and while it's not what Google (Eric Schmidt swears they're not 'Evil') used to offer, it's not too bad.
Edited to add: I assume it's only a 'matter of time' until Microsoft follows suit...? -Cheers

Huh?
What are you guys all talking about?
I just ran a series of searches using all of the so-called prohibited terms, including Springfield Armory 1911. I got hits on every one of them. Pete

darkgael,
Are you referring to Google vanilla search or Google Shopping? If shopping, you might try emptying your browser's cache as your search resulted in zero hits for me...? Edited to add: Unless they have to 'flush-out' this capability across the globe to all of their respective servers until complete synchronization is achieved? -Cheers

Your search - springfield armory 1911 - did not match any shopping results. Suggestions: Make sure all words are spelled correctly. Try different keywords. Try more general keywords. Try fewer keywords. Springfield Armory 1910 pulls tons of results

"Springfield 1911" works fine.
I went to Google's home page, selected the "shopping" link, and typed "Springfield 1911" in the search blank. Got a bunch of hits, didn't check the count. Worked fine for several searches yesterday. I did clear my cache to try and insure that I am getting up-to-date info. From what I can tell firearms searches on Google Shopping work exactly as they should. As far as I am concerned, this is a closed issue. |

Except it's not a closed issue. Google publicly announced their new policy on May 31st. If you're still able to get firearms-related Shopping results, it's only because the rollout isn't yet complete and the filtering isn't in place for everyone yet.
Here's an article on the subject from Forbes Magazine. |

I think it depends on which server you are bouncing off of.
I think there's enough evidence out there to support the fact that it is happening.

Try the Copernic Agent which is free from http://www.copernic.com

Sometimes some stuff gets through
In this case the filter can't distinguish between Ford Taurus transmission bushings and the 905 Taurus revolver:
But you change the 9 to a 6 and you get: My problem with copernic is that it doesn't have a "shopping" results page - which displays the product for sale and gives you a quick listing of prices. Instead it returns everything with the search criteria. So if I were looking for a Taurus 605, I get every YouTube video, every magazine review of the gun, and occasionally I get a weblink that might lead to a site that has a price on the gun - but I don't get a quick comparision shopping list. Top 10 shopping search engines: http://searchenginewatch.com/article...opping-Engines Just going down the list of shopping search engine, I found that Price Grabber didn't return results for most guns. Nextag didn't return searches for most guns. Shopping.com didn't return searches for most guns. Not surprisingly Amazon Product Ads does not return any gun pricing results. Shopzilla returns some price results - but it's spotty and it kind of defeats the purpose of using the Internet for comparision shopping if a significant number of results are not showing up. Pronto does not return any gun pricing results - and it's a crummy shopping search engine anyway. Become.com does not return any gun pricing results - and it's a crummy shopping search engine And that brings us to Bing - which still returns shopping results for firearms and firarms related stuff. Last on the list is TheFind which does not return any gun pricing results - and is a terrible shopping search engine. |

OT: I saw ^^up-there^^ in that google search that they still make the 9mm revolver...I would like to get one but the moon-clips are flimsy to me. Only the S&W 625 has decent rimless moon-clips as far as I have seen.

Pleasantly Surprised by Redmond
I must say that I am quite surprised that Microsoft (bing.com) has yet to 'pull the plug' on firearms shopping. I will for the moment give credit where credit is do in that the customer still has the option available (IMO not comparable whatsoever to Google's now defunct functionality but still quite usable). That being said, notice that I did say "yet."
-Cheers

Bing shopping 'pulled the plug' on firearms shopping.
Last week I was able to do price comparison shopping for a Ruger 10/22, a Charter Arms Pathfinder and some other firearms - now I cannot. I don't get any results for the actual firearms. |

Bing still pulls up plenty of results for a Charter Arms Pathfinder at my location. 111 results, actually. Don't know how long that will continue.

That's weird
I know last week I pulled up a whole list of places that carried the Pathfinder and sorted according to price, now I don't get any results... |

If I'm not mistaken, when this thread was started, I was still getting firearms related hits in Google Shopping, too. Eventually, that ended. I expect the same thing to happen with Bing. My hunch is that whatever tinkering they do with the software is done just a few servers at a time, so that if something goes sideways, it doesn't affect every one of their users all at once.
From an earlier post of mine, here's what I sent to Google: Quote:

I use google to find darn near everything firearms related that I need. I have no idea what a shopping tab is. I just do a standard search...

Well, at least all of our online 'gun search' related data will be protected from any government 'eavesdropping.'

Here is a regular Google search of the 5.11 Select Carry Pistol Pouch:
Here is what it looks like when you search using Google SHOPPING: Something is up with Bing Shopping, because this is what it returns for me now for the 5.11 Select Carry Pistol Pouch: I guess time will tell. |
