Boresnake cleaning?

Hi All,

Just picked one up for my 870 and was wondering the best way to clean it (boresnake). Do you throw it in the washing machine and dryer w/ regular detergent?
Thanks, -Coop

Wherein Ledbetter describes his Boresnake cleaning technique

I only use mine once between cleanings. I take a quart mayonaisse jar and fill it 2/3 full with hot water, then I spray some simple green onto the bore snake where I applied CLP to it. When the Boresnake is soaked, I put it in the jar and shake, shake, shake. Shake until bored or tired.

Empty jar, repeat with clean hot water, rinse again under runiing water, hang to dry.

I wouldn't want to put anything with lead into my washer.

Regards.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a try.

I like the technique and second the desire NOT to share containers or tools with the kitchen ... We should dedicate certain things to the shop and leave them there!

Dip it in dishwashing detergent...

Hang it in the carport, and hose it down, leave it til it drip dries.
Works fer me!

Given that you have to wash it after each pull-through, how long does the critter last?
