rust removal?

I just got a couple of M-44 Mosin-Nagants from AIM ... the ones in the arsenal wrapper. One is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and the other one is almost beautiful. #2 appears to have been stored in a less than perfectly dry environment and as these appear to have been stored for rapid deployment (minimal cosmolene) the steel hardware on the stock has some rusting.

What is the best way to remove the rust from parts that are not easily removed ... like the guides for the sling that are steel sleeves that go through the stock?
Thanks,
Saands

You can try some rust-removing chemicals, or gentle rubbing using STAINLESS steel wool.

For light surface rust....wet it down with Break Free....let sit for a day, gently rub and flush the rust away. Gently because the loose rust will scratch other areas.
