A Very Elegant 10/22
10/22 elegant? Yep....read on
I was able to purchase a few of the left over steel 10/22 receivers from the failed Kingston Armory. They were building M1 & M1A tribute rifles using a 10/22 action as the basis for the rifle. They had some 10/22 receiver copies cast in steel and then machined. Anyway since I blue guns I decided to buy some of the receivers "in the white" (bare steel) and give them a high polish blue. I polished the receiver to a 5000 grit finish. Then I took one of my extra new-take-off barrels and give it the same high polish blue job. Then I bought a new anodized aluminum trigger housing from Pike Arms and a new walnut International stock (factory Ruger) from S&P Outfitters. This is the result Here are my blog posts showing the process https://tincanbandit.blogspot.com/20...ject-part.html https://tincanbandit.blogspot.com/20...ct-part_6.html https://tincanbandit.blogspot.com/20...ct-part_8.html

I believe Ruger sells one with a Mannlicher stock like that as a TALO Distributor Exclusive.
Action figures are dolls for boys. snicker.

Old Bill is smiling down from above. Beautiful work.
Philosophically, the 10/22 was designed to be a typical "every man" working rifle, but I don't see anything wrong with making it a showpiece. It's beautiful. Do you do bluing professionally or a frightening hobby interest in metalworks? |

Ruger offers several "nicer" 10-22's from the factory, some with walnut stocks, and they aren't much more expensive than the standard model. I don't care at all for the standard and it is worth the effort to go for the nicer rifles. Of course you won't get a steel receiver and they aren't quite that nice.
Looks good.
