The Pachmayr grip that Buckeye! shows in his first pic makes a big difference in taming the recoil of the 44 Bulldog. I've had mine for several years now, and its a ROCKSTAR. I love shooting that big cartridge in a small revolver. I like it so much, I'm seriously thinking about the 45ACP Pitbull.

Thanks, Buckeye! I like that shrouded hammer design for pocket carry-and it still allows you to cock it for sa use if wanted.

Those BOOMERS are made for jamming between the ribs and firing into the assailant's bowels. Very cool and horrifically lethal "gidoffme" guns.

People wanna know what a true belly gun is? A north American arms mini revolver, a .25 pistol, a .410 derringer.

Congrats! I like mine for a house/cc gun. 240g SWC standard loads are what I shoot in it.

Here is my new Boomer in 44. The ported barrel makes shooting easier than the Bulldog. With the Crimson trace grips it shoots POA at 8 to 10 yards.

wow, i had no idea these guns were so well regarded.
I never liked the look of the metal/finish. IIRC Jim March spoke highly of his older buldog, I want an old one, but hmm. i may end up with one of these, they are affordable |

As for mine, I haven't got mine out in some time. When I used to, it was easy to still hit the 50 yard round steel out there every month. So back in the holster it went after just a few rounds.... where it still sits today, fully loaded, ... and hopefully never needed.

And if you use it in a card table situation you won’t have to back your chair away from the table afterwards.

You guys have me thinking. Local gun store has the Target Bulldog on display. Not sure how old it is though.
Just what I need. Another caliber I don’t currently load for or have.

That's a good one, John. Not to mention the scorch marks on the top of your knees from the ported barrel.

You should have gotten the 3" barrel models for a bit more velocity. Most .44 special hollow points don't expand from the 2.5" Pugs.

Mine is loaded with 240 SWCs... No need to expand...

I still carry mine in my coat pocket when it's cold outside. I have the shrouded hammer version, 2.5" barrel.
I took it to the range a couple of weeks back. My friend shot a cylinder out of it and kind of whined about the recoil. I didn't get it. I don't think the recoil is much. Plus, he shoots his 357 LCR regularly. It sure does put a nice big hole in things! |
