How much eye relief for an Enfield.

I'm going to get me a scope for my Enfiled, I have some other things to buy first (mags, stripper clips, etc.) Anyway I'm wondering how much eye releif is reccomended. Now I'm looking at the BSA 2.5X20
[URL="http://tinyurl.com/8y3wt"[/URL] The reason for this i because I'm thinking the shorter scope design would still allow me to use stripper clip. However that also depends on the mount too.

Might rethink that

Have you thought about simply using a scout scope with a base that attaches where the front sight base is? This way you could use a stripper clip and when you ever decide to change back to irom sights, simply remove and put the sight back on. I have done this on several and use a pistol scope that is a 2.5x7x32mm scope. I like the Simmons models, but there are lotws of others that will do just as good.

Actually we need to know WHICH Enfield you have, No. 1 or No. 4? The rear sight can be replaced with a scout mount on a No. 1 (and No. 2) as it is on the barrel, but a No. 4's rear sight is on the receiver so to mount a scout scope you have to buy an XO Sight barrel mount from Brownells.

No, if you mount any size scope on a No. 4 using the rear sight mount you will not be able to use stripper clips.
