Colt Gold Cup Trophy Model NEW! :)

Yes yes. Tax return money well spent. I'm breaking in my finger with this gun. I broke my finger on my right hand February 23rd got a surgery February 29th and I still have the metal pins in. The 29th of this month they should remove them and we'll see when I can shoot right handed again

Anyways....unboxing it for you guys now.

Does your new gun have Colt Gold Cup National Match on it or just Colt Gold Cup ?

Nice looking pistol there. I just got my first 1911 last week (see my sig line). It's nowhere near the gun you have but it has the same style. The only thing about some 1911's I do not like is the grip safety (mine does not have it). Why do they have that on so many models?

Great looking gun. I've been lusting after one myself for quite some time, but this S&W revolver kick I'm on already ate my tax return.

That's because the gun you bought isn't really a 1911. It's a gun that looks like a 1911 but it's designed to fire .22 lr. The grip safety has been a part of the 1911 design since the very beginning.

That's a shame then. I guess no "true" 1911's for me.

just won an auction for my own today. a bit of an accident. you ever see that auction that you are just way too curious what the reserve is? apparently it was $899. still, not a bad deal for NIB. i'm excited to get it. just gotta find time to get a postal money order and send it in. good thing i had some cash sitting in the safe for just such an occasion.

Mine went to a very minty S&W 66-5 snub that I found at a local gunshow. For $400 the deal was just too good to pass up:

Nice Colt Constantine, it should serve you well.

By the way if you want someone to break it in for you why your finger heals send me the Colt a few hundred bucks for ammo, I'll be glad to spend some time with it.

Best Regards

LOL Oh Bob I know you will!!! If you lived in my area..I'd definitely let you have some fun with it! Thanks for the words...I love that thing and I can't wait to shoot it.

Since you're here..thankfully, quick questions..I have had 2 springers, still have one, and had a rock island. I know Colts frame to slide ratio is a little more loose which is fine. But what kind of concerns me a bit..nothing serious! Is the beaver tail grip safety. It's rattling and has a pretty good amount of play. Not what I'm used to. Is that normal?

From past experience with Colt's and their generosity with tolerances, I would say yes the loose grip safety issue is normal.

Bob - thank you! I was just a little bit on the concerned side. Appreciate that brother. I admire your knowledge in firearms especially 1911's. I saw a few custom jobs of yours.

Dan - I LOVE those grips. Had the 10-8 ones that looker very similar to those but green on my RIA when I sold it. I don't know if I should chance the original grips on this colt of mine....what do you think? Maybe some black ones?

yeah, i really don't like the look of the oem grips. why buy a 1911 at all if you aren't going to personalize it at least a little?

True...I've had bad experiences modifying my 1911's. They were lower end too..I'm traumatized now. lol the Colt will not be touched by anyone! Though you're right about the grips...

Question to ALL! What do you all think about carrying this thing? Stainless? Expensive? Possible scratches? Etc...I don't know.....Any input?

& Fireman! Welcome to TFL! Congrats on your new Colt! Post a pic here if you'd like

If you bought a $200,000 Lamborghini would you drive it knowing that road gravel will likely scratch the paint a little? Of course you would! Carry that beast and if it gets scratched who cares, it adds personality. Remember, chicks dig scars.
