Rookie to 357 and 45 ACP. help please

Hi all,
im fairly new to reloading and have a couple questions on 357 and 45acp.

357
how can I tell when i have a good crimp and how much crimp to use.

45acp
ive bought about 1500 rounds of 200gr. LSWC and an abundent amount of power pistol powder but my book doesnt list that powder for any lead only jacketed. WHY? will be shooting out of colt officer 1911 and springfeild ultra compact 1911. does anyone use power pistol for lead in here or shoul i use something else.

Thanks for all your knowlage.

Eric

A good firm crimp that dosnt deform the bullet or wrinkle the case will suit you fine.

45. Pistol Powder works fine for Lead as well as jacketed bullets. Start with a mid range load (such as 6.5 grs for the 200 grn lead bullet) and adjust up and down until you get the accuracy you want.

IMO you should try Bullseye with those cast slugs. I get better results with it every pistol chambering I load cast slugs for.
the Power Pistol is hard to beat for jacketed slugs from .380acp to .45 Colt.
