Winchester 98 action job
Hi,
Just picked up another Winnie 98...love them rifles. Bit of history, loads of fun and they look so darn cool. This puppy is new in the box with only about 50 rounds put through it. I also know the guy I got it from so there are no tall tales on this one. The only problem that this gun has is the action, it is the worst I've seen. And I own several of these rifles. All bought new, all had better feeling actions than this one. (not that great, but acceptable) Can someone tell me what is involved in smoothing up the action on a Winnie 98? The trigger has that nasty lawyer pull and is a little gritty. Jacking the lever is pretty darn tough also. I would like to be able to have the lever action smooth enough that I don't have to drop it away from my shoulder to operate the lever. Oh, before you ask, the first thing I did when I got home and kissed the wife hello is run to the garage clean and oiled it up. Thanks in advance.

Joe, basically parts are deburred/polished where they come into contact with the sides of the frame or other parts. Burrs and tool marks on the inside of the frame are polished and springs replaced when needed. Same with the trigger. If you'll polish the sides of the trigger and the inside of the slot in the trigger plate it may very well remove the gritty feel of it. George
