GP11 Swiss Wax
I was FINALLY able to get my hands on some GP11 ammo for my K31. I've been using PPU with some degree of success but was happy to finally find the real thing. Only thing that surprised me was the wax, the loads I got were all 1978 and there was a lot of wax between the case and bullet, I assume for preservation.
At the risk of asking a dumb question is there any reason to remove it before shooting? I'm like 95% I know the answer but would hate to damage my Swiss baby!

Optional, some take it off, others leave it on. you won't hurt your babe unless you somehow got dirt in the wax. New cartridges in sealed 10 round boxes, no problems, I shoot as is. The Swiss used/shot the wax 70 or so years. The last few years of production they stopped the wax ring and some started adding wax just like the old days. Go figure. AlltheBest

Leave it on and shoot it. Few schools of thought why it's there I've heard, center round in chamber , lube bullet down bore and a few others. But what ever the reason the Swiss wouldn't have done it if it would damage anything.there are even machines made so you can added a wax ring yourself.

There is a story about two generals meeting, a German and a Swiss.
This happened during WWII, the German stated the could mass 5,000,000 men at the border, and wanted to know what the Swiss general could do. The Swiss general stated he could bring one million men to the border. The German general so full of himself asked what the Swiss would do if he invaded. The Swiss general very calmly stated the Swiss men would have to shoot five times then go home. I don't know if the story is true, but I've seen them shoot and five shots per man sounds about right. |

Shoot it and enjoy and where the heck did you get the GP11?
Jag120: The number are inflated but the Germans did choose not to try short cut though Switzerland to get around the Maginot line (which by the day did the job intended, it was betrayed by not being complete in the middle (Ardennes) and not finished on the he North end. Germany did mass enough troops to lock down French troops at the South end (I would have counted on the Swiss)
