Marlin model 38

I recently inherited a Marlin model 38. I'm trying to figure out the date of manufacture and the estimated value. Serial number is A1176.
It's a 100 year old hunting gun, so it's not in perfect shape. But it doesn't have any rust.

All I can find is sometime 1921-1929. Don't know a dollar value.

I have read a statement online that Marlin did not, or does not still have, production/serial numbers for the 38. Two currently on Gunbroker: one asking $800 - no bids, another with a lower start currently bid at $370 with a week left on the auction. Check those out and compare their condition to yours.
