What's your Hideout gun?

Mine is a Chromed .38 caliber Cobra Derringer with the optional "fat" rosewood grips. I bought and fitted a long barrel conversion to it but the lower firing pin skips intermediatelly on hitting primers with the long barrel set-up!
The bottom firing pin is a tad short (for safety reasons) it's fitted to the Stock barrel unit and fires reliably with it.
To get fitted for the 3" bbl assy, I need to send it back to Cobra and get a new firing pin put in.
The 3" BBL looks COOL and adds some recoil control to the derringer with full house .38 loads.
I carry mine in a front or jacket pocket with a Galco Pocket Holster.
What do you guys carry for a "Hideout"?

PS
Swapping barrels takes just a couple minutes and with the big frame you can choose .38, 9mm, 32H&R/.32Spl CF caliber barrels for it! The .22 WINCHESTER MAGNUM rimfire requires a different firing pin.

Jeff Bridges made quite a stir in the movie asking for his "Hideout" back from his attempted excutioner when he took it from Hickock!
Why wouldn't a Cowboy Action Shooter own a "Hideout" for side matches?
Why won't this topic fit the CAS section??? I don't get that complaint at all.

I am really intrested in the mindset of the old days when these sorts of Pocket Pistols were the last ditch a Gunslinger had.
I'm sure they were a pretty common thing because we all know how unreliable and tempremental a C&B revolver can be! I once read (I can't remember where tho, darn-it) that Hickock had 4 pistols that he regularily carried. The famous 2 Navys, a Southener .41 and a small caliber (probablly .32) revolver. I can't verify the truth to this but in Hickocks life, I KNOW he must have given this more than a passing thought.
Some Gamblers carried Knives or push Daggers as a back-up.
I would think as the fight became close and personal, a small caliber or a.41 rimfire derringer would be enough? maybe a dirk or dagger would serve better? maybe even a mid-sized Bowie?
One day I will find some concrete information on these small blasters and set my questions at ease.
To tell the truth, I have always been a Pocket Pistol Fan, and from the preponderance of top break .32's and .38's around the turn of the century, it's obvious that these "New" models were replacing something...

I've got a Texas Defender in .45 Colt/410 and a Cobra in .22 mag. The Cobra has a balky firing pin also....

Can you still get ammo for the 1866 Double Derringer? Where?
I have the spec's for the Derringer load and you might be intrested so here they are:

.41 Rimfire
130gr Bullet
13gr of BP
425 fps@ 52 ftlbs energy

I hate to say it but just guestimating, my .38 Cobra WAY exceeds the old .41 and it is about equal with my .22RF Cobra Clone Derringer

I use any of these four semi's of mine for my "Mexican carry" hideout gun. I'm kinda big so I can hide these guns carrying them in my waistband with a shirt and or jacket outside my trousers covering them.

From top to bottom...My Czech CZ52 in 7.62x25. My Egyptian Helwan copy of Beretta Brigadier of 1950 in 9mm with extended mag to make 10 rd magazine. Middle is my ultra rare, 15 shot, double stack, 9mm Tokarev I bought in the early '90's before Clinton stopped the importation of Chinese semi-auto pistols. Bottom is my tried and true standard Chinese Tokarev single stack in 7.62x25. The original Russian Tokarev's that my Chinese version is a copy of.....had no safety. They were required to have a safety when they were being imported into the U.S. though. Stupid rule for a Tokarev since the original Russian versions did not have a manual safety and relied on the hammer's half cock notch as a safety which works perfectly.

So I removed the safety on my single stack version completely and made a cover plate to cover the cutout made for the safety. The safety for it now is the hammer half cock notch just as it was for the original Russian Tokarevs. I carry it chambered with the hammer on the half cock notch. I left the safety on my ultra rare double stack 15 shot 9mm Tokarev only because it is too rare to modify.

When push comes to shove, I'd select my single stack 7.62x25 Tokarev for my "hideout gun" if I had to chose only one of these four.

These aren't black powder or cowboy action pistols/revolvers, so they aren't really germane to this forum, but you asked what our hideout guns were. These are mine.

It's OK tho because You guys are showing some really cool Hide-outs!
I also carry a Beretta Bobcat .22 just because it's so small and light. Fully loaded you hardly know it's whereever you carry it (I have a really nice little sholder hoster for the Beretta!
I wear it atop my fishing vest or T shirt when airgunning or fishing, so it's really not a hide-out that way but you have a lot less hassle explaining it to F&G Officers and they openly see that you are armed.
