Italian Reproductions
Can anyone explain how the following are related and or work with or compete against each other. I have been looking at single shot rifles for awhile but getting confused when comparing who makes, who modifies, who imports, ect ect ect
Uberti - Producer Pedersoli - Producer Taylors - I think they purchase improve then import? Cimmeron - Importer? EAA - Importer? Chiapa - Producer? Pietta - Producer? I'm sure their are others so if I'm missing any big reproduction firms let me know. |

If you expand your list to include America made Sharps then Shiloh Sharps are the top of the list then C. Sharps.

Currently:
Chiapa - Producer Pedersoli - Producer Pietta - Producer Uberti - Producer Cimarron - Importer EAA - Importer EMF - Importer Taylors - Importer The importers tell the makers what configuration/upgrades/features they want in the models they import. Some producers no longer in business: Armi San Marco Armi San Paolo Euroarms Euromanufacture Luciano Giacosa - Brescia Palmetto Pierino Ruschetta

If you order something from Taylor's you are getting an Italian import. I see that "Taylor Tuning" for a revolver is an option, no doubt at extra cost. I don't see any claims for in house upgrade or "most favored importer" on rifles.
Taylor's Sharps are made by Chiappa, their Rolling Blocks by Pedersoli, their Highwall by Uberti. If set on an imported 1874 Sharps, I would look for a Pedersoli, it was the most common foreign copy that I saw at BPCR matches when I was shooting a lot of that. Trivia, Uberti Sharps are made for them by Pedersoli. The Pedersoli Highwall is pretty good, a Pedersoli barrel on a Uberti receiver. The real sleeper in BPCR shooting is the American made C. Sharps 1875. It doesn't have the movie star image of the 1874 but it costs a lot less and shoots just as well. http://csharpsarms.com/catalog-categ...es.html?page=0 It is not quite as economical as it looks, they do not include FET, a single set trigger is an extra, and if you want target sights, you have to add them. But you do on most others, too. Me? I have a real Winchester Single Shot and a Browning BPCR. Both, unfortunately, discontinued. Last edited by Jim Watson; February 26, 2018 at 01:23 PM. |

I collect basically 1851 Navy .36 "type" pistols.
Kudos to those who recommend Davide Pedersoli for rifles. That is a class act. C. Sharps also made very nice guns, bar none. You guys are out of my league. Taylor's makes a big deal out of their Italian guns. For their price I will take my chances on a Pietta from Cabela's while they are still doing it, and it is going away fast since BPS has taken control.
