Lead bullets in a P7?
The book says "no" due to the potential of clogging the gas system. Do any of you have actual experience shooting lead bullets in a P7? It is also supposedly a no-no for a Glock due to the polygonal barrel but I've done it for years with my G17. I do clean the barrel regularly with the Glock. Thanks.

You have $1,000 plus pistol not designed for lead at all.

No experience with lead bullets in a Glock
But in a P7, any bullet with exposed lead facing the powder (and, surprise! this includes some sold as "FMJ") will experience lead vaporisation due to the burning powder.
This molten lead has to go somewhere. Some of it will end up in the gas piston/gas port area, and soon, the slide will stop cycling (ask me how I know). My P7s were fairly picky about ammo, mostly due to the above. Note: I only have one now. That is not an indictment of the P7. |

The Vektor CP1 has the same delayed blow-back as the P7, and the Vektor is legendary for needing that little port to be cleaned regularly. This applies to all ammo. However, I will say that in the beginning, when I knew very little about the CP1, I fired 100 all-lead bullets through that gun and I had no ill effects other than stoppages (which I understand now, must have been due to excessive fouling of that port in front of the chamber).
So there you have it. My advice to you, based on my experience with the Vektor, is to not use all lead in your P7, on the grounds of having an excessively-fouled port. |

Thanks. I happen to agree with all of your comments about the P7. Just wanted to ask the question. I just bought 1000 rounds of Remington 124gr JHP at a good price from Midway anyhow. I just prefer to shoot lead in my pistols since it is more accurate in most of them.

I shoot the Remington 124's and 115 JHP's out of my P7's. The post above are exactly right. You will get a buildup of molten lead in the cylinder of the P7 and then it is a pain to clean out. Just don't shoot lead and plateds are well "not a good idea" (in my experience).
