Springfield XD 9
I am purchasing either a Springfield XD 9mm pistol and would like to use it in IDPA matches in my area. Has anyone heard any reports about how this pistol stacks up against the competition. TIA

I love the XD9 and use it for IDPA, USPSA, carry, and home protection. In IDPA you will have to shoot in Enhanced Service Pistol class which means it will be tough competing against $3000 customized 1911 9mm pistols.

One of these days I will have to check out the XD. I haven't heard earth-shattering reviews of them, but I have seen a few guys shoot them quite well.

Just Bought an XD
I Just bought a 9mm XD Service model in Bi-tone. I absolutly love it!
It has great weight and balance, it is very comfortable to fire and has minimal recoil. I highly suggest it! |

Haven't heard of any problems whatsoever. |

Guys shoot them at my IDPA matches. Seems to be no problem with them. IDPA matches are usually a mix of everything. At least my place is.

I was given an HS 2000/XD when they first came out to shoot IDPA with. I liked everything about the gun except the location of the slide release. It sat right under my thumb. I could not get the slide to lock back because of this.
They were a good buy at $329 retail. Kind of ticked me off when Springfield bumped the price over $100 by just putting there name on it. I much prefer a Glock, but to each his own.
