What AK Custom Shops are worth sending your gun to?

My milled Arsenal SAM7-SF AK-variant needs some custom shop love.

I'd like to:
1) Thread the barrel to 5/8 x 28 TPI pitch.
2) Cerakote the gun, or refinish it in a not-black color (I'd be happy with not-Cerakote, if it's not-black).
3) Fix, modify, and/or replace my top cover and safety.

Any suggestions? Links would be great.

What's wrong with your top cover and safety? They're dirt cheap to buy replacements for.

See "AR to AK, Rock River Arms to Arsenal, Happy to Sad" or "Issue with SAM7SF rifle safety." threads to hear the full story of my AK woes.

Gotcha. Any cheap dust cover should work, and should have the ledge.

As for the safety selector, it's a bit pricey, but I recommend the Krebs Enhanced Safety Selector.

It has a finger ledge that you can reach without removing your hand from the grip, and also has a cut out bolt hold open.

Might also want to replace the trigger with a(nother) Tapco G2 set, which should replace all the parts that could be causing this.

Heck, my old selector has a more pronounced relief cut in the front of the safety lever than your flat one looks like, which should halt the bolt, rather than deflect it. It's yours if you want it, just PM me your shipping address.

That's what I'm saying! I looked at pictures of other SAM7-SF's and they have a flat safety and the top cover is ledgeless. So, I'm almost thinking that the SAM7-SF design is flawed, rather than my gun broken...

Which is weird to me because other Arsenals have a notched safety and an encapsulating ledge on the top cover.

The Krebbs safety seems like it is worth getting for the "hold open" feature. I'm just worried that the "bump" for your trigger/index finger will clear the right-side folding stock. Anybody know?

Potential custom shop

http://www.firinglineoklahoma.com/services.html

This is the custom shop that I'm considering sending my gun to. Anybody know about it? Krebs and Arsenal recommended it. They seem reasonably priced for cerakoting at least.

It does look like the stock would not fold unless the safety was flipped down.

If you want mine, you can use a cutting tool like a dremel to cut out a bolt hold open in it...

RE Ridge_Runner_5

Could you measure your Krebs safety for me? I checked my SAM7 last night and found that there is a fair amount of clearance between the side folder and the receiver when it's folded. The tube of the side folder is bent inward on the top tube where it might bump the knob of the safety. It looks like I might have more than 0.5" clearance even without including that "dent"/bend in the side-folder tube. The important dimension is that knob for your index/trigger finger that helps you move the safety.

I may yet resort to your safety.

Clearance is about 12mm, well under half an inch.

RE Ridge_Runner_5

That's good news! I may be able to put a Krebs on it yet. I'm going to call that custom shop on Monday...
