I abstain until I know the purpose. I have a 9 mm Glock (G26) and a 92FS. They are both good pistols, but they are good for different things.

Between Glock and Beretta the biggest factor is choosing the trigger system you like. Both have their advantages. Without meaning to be difficult, I am afraid I don't fully understand the oft-voiced objection to DA/SA. I don't have dazzling handgun skills, but I didn't find it hard to learn at all, and I continue to switch back and forth between trigger systems with no problem. I have to wonder if the same folks refuse to cock a DA revolver for the sake of only having one type of trigger.

I voted for the Beretta because I've had good results with them since 1989 and prefer the ergonomics to the Glock.

But really you're trying to compare apples to oranges. Shoot both and see which one you prefer OP. Good luck.

I've never really been able to enjoy the M9. Fine gun, no doubt. But, it doesn't fit my hands or tastes. Glocks are just a better fit for me, ugly as they are. The only Beretta product I've ever truly enjoyed was the Cougar.

DA/SA is fine for places where I know/expect I'll be shooting it, but for personal defense from a sudden attack I dont want a manual safety in the way.
Decockers are ok... I'm not nuts about a weird/long/heavy/revolver type of pull that comes with it though. Practice to tame that I suppose.

Yup, practice is handy with any platform. If people don't personally like it, fair enough. To act like it's somehow at a disadvantage in the hands of someone trained with it is where I get annoyed.

In my experience its functions more reliably and just shoots better for me.

M-9 for me.

I like the balance.

It fits my hand better, both one and two handed grips.

Without changing my grip, I can reach the safety, slide release, and mag release.

And I can cock it to get single action on my first round without changing my grip.

I can shoot the M-9 better.

I own the m9, i own 2 glocks but not the 17. I really like my m9, no issues at all. Like the feel and fit, super accurate, low recoil. If i had a 17 i may like it better, i do like my glocks. Since its not a carry issue i like the all metal of the m9.

For my uses, I would prefer the G17.

But for a purely range gun or home defense, the Beretta is a VERY nice gun.

The trigger was very smooth and defined, the action felt like glass, it was big enough that recoil was practically non-existant.

I actually got the 2nd highest score in my CCW class way back in 1998 with a Taurus PT92 (Same as the Beretta with a better safety). The only guy that did better than me was a guy who cheated and used used a Colt Woodsman in .22LR.

But it is way too big to carry concealed. It is big for people with small hands (like my wife) and it is much heavier.

Plus you can get 33 rnd magazines for the Glock.

Absolutely wrong. Have you ever tried to do a detailed cleaning of a Beretta? to get to the firing pin it is a nightmare. I did it once, cleaned it, but it back together and propmtly trade it away.

A weapon that can't be maintained properly will fail, it is only a matter of when. To get to the beretta's firing pin you have to take off the rear sights and numerous small parts of the safety and I forget what else. To make matters worse the assembly process is different than the dissassembly. There are two or three steps that have to be done differently. I bought an AGI video to show me how.

No sir, the Beretta and the Glock are not equal by a long shot. I do like the way it shoots because of the 5" barrel. What I prefer is the Glock 34. 5.25 inch barrel and Glock reliability, simplicity and accuracy.

A complete detailed strip usually isn't required too often. Let's also not forget that the US military has armorers as well.

But neither really.

Hammer fired and a manually switched safety make the M9 my choice. Both are too big for my size hands.

Well, I carried an M-9 for a year in some pretty bad places. And I carry a Glock 21 everyday.

So while I lean towards neither, I would have to pick the Beretta.

It fits into my hands well and is well put together, well made, and reliable. With some aftermarket MecGar mags, you can't go wrong.

Well is this for carry or just range use?

I owned both a Glock 17 and Beretta 92fs, The Glock 17 was too big for my hand, slippery gen 3 grips. I liked the 92fs because it different.

I would only carry the 17 because the 92fs I hate the trigger bar, if you get it dirty/knock it out of wack = dead trigger. I took the grip plate off once and notice after hitting the pin I lost controll of the trigger, useless gun.

I really enjoyed shooting the 92fs at the range over the Glock 17, but for carry it would be Glock 17.

Glock...most any Glock (and I"m a die-hard 1911 fan)...Glock's are at least as reliable, as accurate, cheaper, smaller for the full size and compact models, and there is boat load of information on how to work on or with them. My wife's G19 Gen 4, is the most reliable semi-auto pistol in our safe. It's accurate enough to keep 5 rounds under a postage stamp at 10 yds with good ammunition.

It's grips, are thinner than the Beretta's and easier to operate in the DA mode. It's one great defensive pistol, but it's also FUGLY as all get out.
