Can my CZ-75B be converted to a decocker?

I truly wish I had ordered a CZ-75BD (decocker) rather than my CZ-75B,,,
Can my 75B be converted to the 75BD version?

Aarond

According to the FAQ at CZCustom.com, no, because the holes are not in the same places.

Thanks Mleake,,,

Exactly what I was hoping was not the case.

Shortest thread I've ever seen.

If you don't mind me asking Aarond... why would you prefer to have a 75BD?

And now this won't be the shortest thread you've ever seen.

Cheers,
C

Sorry. If it's any consolation, I only know because I had the same question last month.

Creeper, in my case, my SP-01 feels a bit awkward with a high thumb, due to safety shape, but sometimes gets knocked into "safe" with a low thumb, due to safety location.

So, my SP has been relegated to "range gun" status.

Interesting. I wonder if the lower and more ergonomic (IMO) safety lever from the CZ75B SA will fit a B?

If that works, let me know - I may try it.

Hello Creeper,,,

The CZ was my first serious semi-auto pistol,,,
I had only heard about de-cockers from other shooters,,,
And to tell the truth I just didn't think I would/could trust the device.

Since then I have purchased two semi-auto pistols with de-cockers,,,
The trust issue turned out to be a non-issue for me,,,
I found I really like the convenience factor,,,
Now I wish all my pistols had them.

It's no real biggie,,,
If it could be converted just by swapping out a few parts I would do it.

Hindsight,,,
It's a terrible thing.

I decock my 75B to the half cock notch manually with no problem. It is easy, and safe. Practice with snap caps if you are worried. My PCR is a decocker, but doesn't give me any more confidence than manually decocking my 75B. In fact I wish my PCR had a manual safety.

Yep, I do the same thing and it's a safe and easy procedure if a little extra care is used. I do, though, perform the exercise over a bucket filled with sand-just in case.

One of the best things about a CZ75b is the cocked and locked option, IMO. Quick safety down and then a short single action trigger for a fast and accurate first shot.

It is pretty easy to lower the hammer to half cock manually on a CZ75b, however. The decocker only lowers the hammer to half cock as well....

I talked to CZ about the practicality of this several years back. The DA/SA CZ-75B could probably, with much effort and expense, be converted to decocker operation -- but only the CZ gunsmith's at CZ-USA (or CZ Custom) would be up to the job, and the expense would arguably be prohibitive. (Parts alone would be expensive, and then there's gunsmith time.)

You'd be better served selling your gun and buying a decocker model, or getting one of the newer P-07s, which have the option of going either way with user-installed part swaps.

That all said, you're not gaining much for the trouble and functional change.

If you prefer the decocker, you could simply sell your 75B and buy a 75BD or, better yet, the P07 Duty which can be converted back and forth between a manual safety and decocker (all the parts are included).

yeah the SA safety will totally fityou cz 75 or sp01 infact its usually is standard on most of the the czcustom guns. it does need to be 'fit' though.

For the guys telling us how to decock a standard CZ safety, it is useful info for potential readers, but I suspect Aarond has already figured that out, and I've known it for years. I used to carry a 75B cocked and locked, but I knew how to decock it - the manual explained the procedure.

Thing is, the safety on the SP seems shaped a bit differently, and it does not get along well with the length and shape of my thumb.

Thanks, Venom1956. The safety on my SP is taller from top to bottom; I am not sure why the difference, but the SA type looks more user friendly.

There are some better pic on here so you can see how far they stick out from the frame and such too. Enjoy!

There is also a CZ 75B "Omega" model that incorporates the swappable safety/Decocker that the P-07 has.

The P-07 is a great gun but it is not the classic CZ 75 that you want.

I suggest you track down an Omega (I believe they're kind of rare) and sell or trade in your 75B.

Yeah? I point mine at my cat, and he's still alive. For now.

Just kidding, btw.

If you COULD convert to decocker, you WOULD ruin the gun.

The CZ decocker is the worst development any manufacturer could make to a perfectly fine firearm. I would bet that SIG paid them to develop their decocker.

The CZ decocker is:

- Unnecessary as per above.
- Makes it harder to work on the weapon.
- Adds more small parts - easier to have a problem. Some are raspy.
- Gets in the way of a decent high hand/thumb hold (unlike the SIG).

DA/SA is inferior. Period.

I have thick thumbs and resting ny thumb on the thumb safety on a CZ is perfect. The CZ with MS is the PERFECT firearm for a proper high thumbs fwd grip.

Friends don't let friends buy CZ decockers.

Well, my cat's no longer here-which is why I switched to the bucket. Nine lives my a$$!

Just kidding too.

What's that argument doing in THIS discussion? <grin>

The DA/SA functionality was one of the thrusts of the original CZ-75 design...

I agree that a decocker can unnecessarily complicate things, but decocker guns can still have good DA and SA triggers. And, unhappily for gun makers, many folks don't like single-action only guns, and buyers have come to seek out decockers. Decocker seem especially valued by police departments. (I don't like decockers, myself.)

The SA only CZ design was a very late development.

I really like the idea of decocker models... No safety to forget, no safety to accidentally bump on while firing, and whether the lever is in the way or not is a personal thing, for me the CZs fit perfect. Same with Sig, but the Sigs feel taller to me, and that plus saving cashola means CZ for me.

I have come to the conclusion that persons that do not care for da/sa and or decockers do not have enough hand strength to properly manipulate them. This is from watching other shooters using da/sa. I do not have this problem as I have owned da/sa decocker semi autos for a long time.
