I bought one just 2 months ago, and I've been very impressed. There are two versions of the factory tactical Mini-14. I got the one with the Hogue stock and the factory flash hider. The tactical's tapered barrel is about 2 inches shorter than the other new Mini's. I set mine up with a Mo-Rod right out of the box, and it's been very accurate and consistent. I'm using a red dot sight...a nice setup. Don't hesitate to pick one up...

I have heard nothing but good things from the new tactical mini's with the tapered barrels. Accuracy is a major improvement, plus the shorter barrel aids in accuracy even more by giving you less flexibility.

Those are some nice looking rifles.

Get one!!! I did and love it. You can find them at shows for around 6-650. Mine is just as accurate with iron sights as my AR.
