Semi-auto safety recalls
I have been curious as to what most people have been doing when sending in their semo-autos in for the certain manufacturer safety recalls (example the Ruger LCP recall). Do most people send in their pistols to the manufacturer for a safety recall with an empty mag in the pistol or without a mag? I will be sending in my S&W made Walther PPK/S here in the next few weeks (I hope) for the safety recall and was just thinking should I send it in with no mag or with an empty mag. I'm leaning on sending it off with no mag myself. I figure all my mags are pretty new and by not sending it in with a mag, that is one last item they can lose or send me back a rather used one in its place. Like I said, just curious how some have handled this situation in the past. Thanks.

No mag...
Don't send your magazine. Keep it and just send the pistol.

Yep, that's what I figure. No need to give them a mag, that they can lose.

Would you send in your Xbox with it's Hard-Drive?

All I know is that I am annoyed with the recalls.

Turnaround time?
I have a PPK going in myself as soon as the prepaid shipping label arrives.
Has anyone had experience with turnaround time for gun recalls? I e-mailed Smith and Wesson and they said it takes a couple weeks to get the label, but 10-12 weeks for the repair. Hmmm...I hope that is them erring on the side of caution |

I sent my G22 in several years back for a recall errrr.... they called it an upgrade. I didn't send a mag nor was it in the case as I was afraid it might get tossed, so I wrapped it good in bubble wrap and a zip-loc baggie. When they sent it back it came with the new hinged case instead of the original tupperware looking container that came with it when new and this cool miniature Glock pistol key chain.

Don't send anything but the gun. I sent my M&P9 to S&W to have some adjustments done, and I sent a magazine. When I got the gun back–surprise! no magazine!
I immediately called them, they said, "nope, you didn't send a magazine...". I said "I *know* what I sent–the mistake was on your end." A couple days later a new mag arrived in the mail–free of charge. That scored them major brownie points in my eyes. |
