Colt No. 3 joins the stable

Picked up my circa 1934 Colt Police Positive in .32 Colt Police (.32 S&W Long) this afternoon.

I'd not see it, only a picture and a description by the gunstore owner.

I'm very happy with it overall. The bluing is thin in a few places but overall very strong for a 75 year old gun. There are wear patterns typical with it having been a night stand or other defensive gun that was held ready but rarely ever shot.

The bore is shiny and strong. There is a bit of corrosion on the left side of the trigger guard, and the front of the guard (left side) where it meets the frame appears to have been filed on.

Someone also scratched a small letter M into the sideplate.

Unfortunately, the left stock is also chipped, so I'll need to find a replacement. That's unfortunate, because the stocks are otherwise in exceptional shape.

The trigger is heavy, but it definitely needs to be cleaned. The sideplate shows no evidence of ever having been removed.

All in all I don't feel badly used for $300.

This isn't a very good picture, but it's close enough.

Good job Mike. That PP is in very nice shape. Those grips are not very cheap unfortunately. This was the gun I imagined when a guy I know found me my PP target 32 that you probably saw in the other thread.

So whats next on your list? A New Service? I just bought the New Service book by Mullin. It looks like a good read, and has good reviews on Amazon, but I have not yet read it myself. I would like to get a NS myself.

You also have an OP, and a.....Det Special? You mean 3 colt revolvers, right? Do you plan to shoot this PP much? I have a box of 32 S&W long I have been sitting on for a long time, because I can't bring myself to use it up lol.

Hopefully a New Service next. Proving to be elusive, though.

My other Colt is a Police Positive Special in .32-20.
